User Experience vs. Usability

Are we measuring Usability or the User's Experience? What is the difference?

Usability is contained in the User Experience, therefore, for a good experience, usability is essential, but that’s not all. Let's say User Experience is 💖 and Usability is 🧠. But let's go deeper and you tell me if you agree or not.

User Experience

As the name says, it is all about the experience of the user with the product, from how they get to know about it until the very last interactions with the brand. I involve visual aesthetics, brand perception, emotional impact, and the overall quality of the user's interaction. It aims to create products that users find enjoyable, memorable, and satisfying. It is hard to measure in numbers because it's so subjective, but we can perceive it through qualitative research such as interviews, surveys, satisfaction ratings, etc.

🗣 You want users saying: "Wow, it looks cool", "This is fun", "That was nice", "They are some", "Aaaww", "hahaha", "I can't wait to use it again", "The time flies when I use it".

Usability

Usability is a component of user experience, but this aspect is more concerned with the efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction of users when performing tasks, so concentrates on the practical and functional aspects of the product. In this case, you want to know, among other factors, if the users can finish their task quickly, what is the success rate, how many errors they make, what is the severity of these errors, is the product consistent, does the users receive feedbacks, is everything clear to the user, and so on. Usability is more easily measurable, through qualitative and quantitative research (I'll talk much more about this later on).

🗣 You want users saying: "This is very easy to use", "I learned very fast how to use it", "I made an error, but quickly I learned what was it", "I understood the content", "I could read it easily", "I did what I needed very quickly".

🧠 (( It was a quick bite to instigate your curiosity, go further and research more about the subject! ))
