FASHION

OWN.

OWN. is a collection developed by me during my bachelor's course. It aimed to define my creative characteristics, serving as a basis for future creations to be marked by my "DNA".

Sternberg and Lubart, in their studies concerning creativity, say that the topic "creativity" involves six distinct but related factors, which are intelligence, intellectual types, knowledge, personality, motivation, and environmental context. Each of these factors deals with different traits of the individual.

Personality, as a specific set of characteristics, contributes to the expression of creativity, which includes a willingness to take risks, open-mindedness to ambiguities, persistence in face of hurdles, a certain degree of self-esteem, self-confidence, and the courage to express new ideas.

Sternberg and Lubart yet point out that it is not necessary to own or dominate all the elements of each of these areas, but the interaction between them is what is shown to be the key point of the creative process.

Applying these concepts about the creative process, I attempted to find out who am I as a fashion creator (my "DNA"), using the knowledge, the experiences, and takeaways that integrates my personality which, considering the impossibility of summarizing all of it, was expressed in its most fundamental attributes in fashion creation.

Through the application of the intrinsic knowledge and the experimentation generating new knowledge and previously unseen possibilities, as well as my cultural experiences, I explored the use of form, material, and texture on the textile surface instinctively, associated with methods of creation with no regard to a marketing objective, so that by recognizing patterns in my work, I would also find my personality traits tangibly expressed in the garments.
